03Sep Declicking a Rokinon/Samyang 35mm 1.4 lens
If you have the Rokinon/Samyang 35mm f1.4 lens, an easy upgrade is to “Declick” the aperture ring. Youtube member c2thew does a pretty good job in this video of walking you through the process. It isn’t very hard to do and gives you the ability to have smooth aperture transitions. By Declicking the lens you basically have a Samyang 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens without the built in gears which saves about $130.

Is it really the only difference between cine and non cine lenses?

Declick and built in gears are the only difference. Optics are identical.

He says to remove the aperture spring in this video, DO NOT DO IT. After I did, I could not get mine to close, because the spring wasnt there to close it. I had this confirmed by Duclos lenses when i took my 24mm rokinon there in person. Again, if you do this, do not remove the spring!

Ok, so apparently i removed the wrong spring? By spring, he apparently means another spring that holds in the bearing or something. Somehow I must have not seen that spring…..
