18Sep Magic Lantern Finally on its way for the Canon 7d!
This from Canon Rumors.
Looks like the Magic Lantern Team has finally found a way to install there firmware update on the Canon 7d. ML team member g3gg0 found a way to install the update on the 7d using the autoexec.bin code. According to Magic Lantern:
The first analysis shows that porting is straightforward (more or less), and most features will work without major code changes, as Magic Lantern does not have to run on both DIGIC processors. Basic features such as zebra and focus peaking are already working, so you may expect an alpha version to be available soon.
All I really want is some on screen audio meters and the time laps features, but any upgrades would be nice. If you haven’t considered donating to the Magic Lantern Team, every little bit helps keep development moving forward.

this is great news…now if only there was a fast enough adapter to use SD cards instead of CF…

So would the 7d be better or as good for video as the 60d with both having magic lantern? I know it is better for stills.

Depends on how valuable you find the flip out screen and how much build quality means to you. The 7d wins for photography, build quality, and interface, but the flip out screen can be handy if it’s something you need.

I have seen it working in a 7D, but didn’t have all the features a 5D2 would have. At the time, he couldn’t use the focus-stacking feature, but could shoot at intervals.
