07Dec Gopro Hero 3 Black edition
Finally made it home from DC a few hours ago and stopped by the UPS store to pick up the packages that where held for me. It looks like the GoPro Hero 3 black edition showed up this morning. Also included in the shipment was the LCD touch BacPac, I found the controls on the original hero 2 to be a bit fiddly so I thought this might be a helpful improvement. Combine these two together and it should make for a great steady cam at 2.7k.
The first thing I noticed as I took the Hero 3 out of the package is how incredibly small it is. This new model seems to be about half the size. Unfortunately I have to wait for the unit to finish charging, then upgrade the firmware before I’ll be able to actually play around with it, so I probably wont get anything shot tonight. The first thing I would like to test out is the phone app then on to some time-laps and steady cam tests. Once I’ve had a chance to run through the charging and firmware upgrades I’ll put up a few more posts.
As of right now it looks like B&H is the only one who has it in stock, so if you want one you might want to order now or you’ll probably have to wait tell after Christmas to get your hands on one.
