30Apr Nyrius Aries Prime HDMI wireless transmitter follow up – so far so bad
The Nyrius Aires prime I ordered finally showed up yesterday and I had a short amount of time to play around with it this morning. There is not a lot to describe about the packaging. Basically what you see is what you get. There is a single right angle USB adapter included in the box as well as an extra hdmi cable and a USB power supple. The manual is only about 4 pages and doesn’t give you a whole lot of information.
The mount on the reciever is infact 1/4 20 making it easy to mount to a rig. This would be great if I’d recieved a working unit. Unfortinitly the Nyrius Aires prime that showed up is dead in the water. I’ve contacted the seller on Amazon and I’m waiting for a responce for return information.
So far it’s a nice looking package but that’s about it. Hopefully I’ll get a quick responce from the seller and get a replacement for this unit in a timely manner. Until then I’d say hold off on buying the Nyrius Aires prime, a none working unit could be a fluke or it could be a repersentation of product quality. I’ll post more info once I get my hands on a working unit.

I recieved mine last week and don’t working well, indeed after 20 min the signal was lost, I have to on an off the transmitter for another 10 min, and again lost signal, I have returned it for replacement. When I add the customs tax and the shipment fee for the return these fee cost for me the more than the price of the unit !!

The Zoom H-1 shock mounts are not available from the Noob Store. Are they available from anywhere? I have two H-1s to mount and a week before shoot time…

Hey guys,
I received the nyrius aries prime yesterday and have just tested it on the 5D mark 2 (soon upgrading to 5d mark 3 to enable lcd mirroring) and it work amazingly. there is virtually no lag it great.
notes: you have to buy a hdmi to mini hdmi adapter for it to fit into your 5D!
You also have to buy a usb power pack power both the transmitter and receiver.
Once you’ve done that you’ve got yourself a wireless monitor solution for mega cheap.
I will make a video soon and upload. Also if you don’t live in the USA like me (I live in the UK) I ordered mine through amazon.com and had it shipped to http://www.shipito.com.

It wont run well with 500 mAh of regular computer USB.
Use power bank with 1 A power, it will do well.

You linked to the “pro” version. The one above is the aries prime. Power specks don’t list any minimum amp requirements and e-mails from the seller say it works with 5V/500mA (.5A) supplies. Here’s the link to the one I tried to test. The none pro unit only transmits 30 feet and requires less power than the pro unit which transmits 160 feet.

Yes,I use the Pro one, my bad….sorry.
But using power bank worth a test, 1A model and keep USB wire short and fat, if you get that replacement unit.

Just got mine yesterday and ran it for an hour with my canon 60d. Works like a charm. Minor a rame lag. Switching between menu to live view takes about a minute to refresh screen. Had it running for an hour. You do need power on the transmitter to work.

This is a really unhelpful post for someone like me who is trying to evaluate this product and decide if it’s worth buying. At worst, you found a bad seller – not a bad product. At best, a perfectly good seller just sent you a defective piece of equipment – a reality of modern manufacturing.
