25May Discount on a new Makerbot.
A number of you have expressed interest in buying your own makerbot. I was surfing around this morning and found one for sale on ebay with a buy it now price of $1000. Every once in awhile people buy one of these without understanding the amount of time it takes to put one together. Once they see the bags of parts and side panels they give up.
If you’re thinking about buying one of these a $300 discount might be just enough to push you over the edge. If you’re interested you can .
That’s a picture of my makerbot by the way. I changed out the front panel for something a little less red.

Yeah, I thought about getting one of these… I’m good at putting things together, building things, etc, but I have NO knowledge of computer modeling or CAD modeling of any sort. Sorta would defeat the purpose, right?

I would download Google Sketchup (free cad program) and mess around with it. If you can get the hang of that, then you shouldn’t have to much of a problem using a makerbot.

there was a much cheaper alternative called “eMaker” and i was lucky enough to caught it in time before they were sold out! It went for $500 and the print dimensions are a bit lager than the MakerBot. But it will be a while for it to ship 🙁

Hey! I’ve just looked back to eMaker’s website and they have 455 available, but this time its $550. But still its worth getting if there’s anyone looking for a 3D printer thats cheaper than the MakerBot at $1,000.

By the way, offer is limited to 14 days. after that the regular price of the eMaker might get as high as the MakerBot.

Ian, you might also want to take a look at the makerbot cupcake. They are currently selling for $455. You can also buy the same Huxley Model from Techzone for $599.
Another interesting and low price option is the Makergear Mosaic. Current price is $799 without headed build platform and $999 with heated build platform.
That eMaker looks like it might take a few months to ship out.

Thanks Deejay, I like the Huxley Model from Techzone for $599 that has a build volume of 150mm x 150mm x 100mm. The cupcake is good too for $455 at 100mm x 100mm x 130mm. And with the eMaker at the moment for $550 at 140mm x 140mm x 110mm is not so bad too. Luckily I got it at $500, kinda the middle ground between cupcake and techzone. Unfortunately it is gonna take months until I get it, but there’s no rush 🙂 patients is a virtue.
I like all of these options, being that there are cheaper choices than $1,000. 🙂
