13Nov DSLR FILM NOOB Podcast episode 1
I’ve been trying to decide what I’m actually going to use the second youtube channel for and was wondering if this is a format you guys would find useful. Basically it’s a podcast covering stuff from the site once a week. Think of it as a condensed audio book form of dslrfilmnoob.com.
I will make the show available as a video podcast as well as an audio podcast. Please let me know if you find the show useful or if you think this format is a waste of time. Your feedback will determine whether the show lives or dies. It’s still a little ruff around the edges, but if you think it’s worth doing I’ll palish things up a bit and add some bumpers.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Like it, great idea.
I see myself probably using the audio version primarily since I can have it playing in iTunes either while working or traveling.
I do already subscribe via RSS so I’m aware of all the content that you create, but I only follow through and read selected articles, so having the audio podcast would definitely give me an opportunity to get an overview of all the content each week.
The benefit for me would be that I might find that an article that I skip does indeed have information that is useful and then I could follow up by reading the complete article.
Keep up the great work.
Best,
Mike

Hello, I like this to,
your talking really clear so annyone can follow it, that’s a good thing.
Less good is the fact how you use your hands on this one, maybe its because of the top of your laptop, that cuts off your hands. Besides that. Good job. I would like more visions for example on how you look to light and what your experience is.

I’ll start rolling these recommendations into the next show. Thanks for the input.

Instead of a rehash of the week, if you are going to do a podcast I would rather you include one or two other people that you work with, or that have similar diy film sites and go over some topics each week.
I realize this is more of a pain logistically, but I would rather listen to a few people having an informed conversation than just you talking to a camera. Maybe make it a Google Hangout and people can watch it live as well and chat at the same time.
Anyway, I am glad you are thinking about ways to expand your web footprint for your great site.

I’ll see what I can do. I might be able to shoot a podcast now and again behind the scenes when I’m working on a project. I’ll try and expand the show a little more in the future, right now I’m just starting to work out the wrinkles. The plan is aimed more towards an audio podcast with the option to watch if you feel like it, then Video podcast with the option to listen.
Once I get a little more comfortable with the format, I’ll start adding a little extra to the show notes and covering more subjects.

Good. I’d rather have it be an audio podcast in that format anyway. That way I can listen while I am doing other things. Just ignore the part about Google Hangout, but keep everything else!

I liked the first episode, I downloaded the audio version. I think the idea of occasionally doing something on set is a good one. I’m thinking of you walking around and talking about/showing your setup on that particular shoot. Lighting, camera rig, audio setup, etc. I kind of like the repeating the information from your recent blog posts too. It gives you the opportunity to discuss the items less formally, and maybe add a personal anecdote relating to the post/article. Overall, I think the podcast idea is a good one. I’ll usually go the audio version route, so I can listen while I’m working, but on shows were you go “on set” I may go the video route to see what your talking about. Thanks for the effort, on this and on the Splattercast.

I like the idea. I’m saving for a DSLR camera and want to do some filming with it, as well as pictures. I want whatever info I can get so I can start experimenting with it and start filming part time.
