4k tv

It was only a matter of time before 4k displays started falling in price and this is the first one I’ve seen in what I would consider a reasonable price range. $1499 on tigerdirect gets you a 50″ 3840 x 2160 LED display made by Seiki which might just be small enough for an editors desk. With that resolution to work with you could have your playback and preview windows at 1080p and still have enough room for your timeline and clip management.

I haven’t seen a lot of information on this 4k display, but i did manage to find one overview. Looks like they used two GTX 680’s in SLI and an HDMI cable to run a few tests. I don’t have enough room at my desk to support a 50″ monitor, but a 4k display would be a nice workspace for editing and post production work.

Update: Looks like you can find this model on ebay for $1399 with free shipping.
