17Dec Canon 5d mark III body on sale for $2,638
The Canon 5d mark III is on sale yet again. It’s the same seller as all of the previous sales (bigvalueinc) and the same seller I ordered my Canon 6d and 24-105 f4 lens from. Right now you can pick the Canon 5d mark III on ebay for just $2,638 with free shipping which is within $45 of the lowest price i’ve seen in the last 6 months. As with all of these sales they only last a day or so. If you want one you might want to act fast.

I purchased one of these last time they had their sale. They shipped it. I was not home to receive it. I asked that it be held at UPS and I would pick it up there. UPS said they could not because the vendor put all of these restrictions on it. It could NOT be left with a neighbor, it could NOT be delivered on Saturday, it could NOT be held at UPS central office for pickup with ID. It could only be delivered to MY house with MY signature… “sometime” during the day.
I called Big Value and was told this was standard procedure and was a restriction of EBay and PayPal. I told them I have purchased from eBay and payed with Pay Pal many times, and never had this issue. In fact, 2 days before I had a $15K piece of photo equipment delivered by Fedex and they didn’t even require a signature!
I called eBay and spoke to several people there who assured me there is NO policy of any kind by eBay and never has been. This was a restriction by the vendor, not eBay. I called Big Value and they said basically “tough”. That’s our policy. We’ll try and deliver 3 times and then it will go back… which it did. They said they couldn’t allow me to pickup at UPS (even though THEY required an ID… the delivery driver at my door does not!).. they told me that someone could have photocopied my ID with THEIR photo on it to get the camera at UPS. Huh? Idiots.
This company is B.S. I will NEVER do business with them again, and I would strongly suggest unless you’re a deadbeat sitting around your house all day long (Sorry, I actually work for a living), they don’t trust you.
I’ve also read on many a blog that they ship gray market goods as well. I didn’t even get that far. I bought it on Amazon for a couple hundred dollars more, but it was legit and Amazon is a pleasure to deal with – unlike these scum bags.

I’ve only ordered 2 items from them. I had mine delivered to the flower shop next to my down town apartment the first time, the second time I signed a notice slip left on my door and they dropped it off the following day and pulled the slip. It wasn’t much of a hassle either time, do you live in a shifty neighborhood?

Not at all. Quiet, upscale suburban neighborhood. They absolutely REFUSED to budge on their “restrictions” in any way, shape or form. I get stuff shipped here from BH & H Photo and Amazon (sadly) several times a week….. never had a problem with ANY vendor putting absurd restrictions on delivery. They didn’t seem to understand that it was not possible that I could just take a day off so I could sit around and wait for delivery, which evidently was FAR more secure than me going to the UPS Center with an ID and picking it up (which I also do every week).
And most importantly, they outright LIED about why they were doing it, saying it was eBay and Pay Pal rules, not theirs. I accused them of lying and all they would say is “those are our policies.. you can just send it back if you want).

Sounds pretty crazy. I guess all experiences aren’t the same with these guys. I’ll be sure to note your shipping issues next time I post one of their sales.
