14Mar Micover Puffin Windscreen for shotgun microphones
The Micover Puffin Windscreen showed up. This one is the 12 cm model and it fits my at4073a perfectly. I’ve been looking for a windscreen that’s smaller and easier to use then my very large blimp. Don’t get me wrong the blimp works great, but if you need to mount the mic on a few different rigs or connect and disconnect cables, you can spend a lot of time taking it apart and putting it back together. The Micover Puffin Windscreen just slides on and off and the price is right at $65. Compare that to your basic blimp that runs around $170 on the low end all the way up to $600 for a Rycote windshield.
I haven’t had a chance to take the Micover Puffin out in the wind yet, but it’s on my list of things to do. I also have the Micover windscreen for the Rode VideoMic Pro waiting to be tested. Maybe I’ll head out in the wild and spend a few hours running through wind tests with each of these windscreens this weekend. Hopefully I’ll have some high winds for the test.

Excellent! I was so impressed with the Rode VideoMic testing you did, but now that I can get a model for my SGM-1X, I’m extremely happy. Thank you for posting this!
