28Oct Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 quick Bokeh test
I had a chance to grab a few quick Bokeh tests on the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8. It isn’t nearly as beautiful as the primes i’m used to using, but it’s pretty good. There is a little bit of onion pattern in the Bokeh and it does pinch off a little at the edges wide open. The shot above is wide open at f2.8.
Once you stop down a little bit to f4 and above the bokeh seems to round off a little more. However the onion effect still seems to be showing up a little bit on the left hand side. If you consider yourself a bokeh expert, I’d be interested to hear your opinion.
I’ve updated this post with Barnabil’s recommendation to add a little more info to the shots. I’ll try and grab some 24mm shots later in the week and see how well they turn out.

Hi. I follow you since a few months but never commented before. I do not consider myself a bokeh expert, but it seems that in the middle the shapes are perfectly circular but going to the borders they aim to a “cat’s eye” shape. But i like the effect 🙂
Did you shot at 24mm? And 2.8 i bet. Try to shot with a closer aperture also, in order to show how the blades affect the result.
Thanks for reading
cheers

Here’s my question: Is it parfocal?

From the few tests i’ve done, I would say almost parfocal would probably be more accurate. There does seem to be a little bit of focus drift but it seems to be very slight. A lot of the lenses that considered parfocal in Canon’s line up fall into this category.
