21Feb DIY Laser build frame and case
I sat down with a carpenter (Chris) and drew up some plans for the laser case. By the time we were done we had sketched out a 6 foot by 7 foot frame that will eventually hold the X-Y stage, electronics, and laser tube, as well as water cooling and air assist.
A day later I get a call from Chris. He’s almost completely finished the base and major framing for the case. Next he’ll be adding side doors and separation walls for the tube and gantry chambers. If he keeps up this pace, he’ll probably have the whole case finished by the end of the weekend. At that point we’ll have to try and fit this monster into the studio. After that I’ll start wiring the electrical and getting the laser mirrors lined up.
If all goes well, the new DIY laser should be up and running by the end of next month. I’ll post some more photo’s once I start mounting the electronics and laser controller.

What will this laser accomplish?

The giant laser will hopefully be used for the Noob audio interface and Noob build it yourself Slider system. These Along with a nice DIY wood computer for your HTPC. I’ve got a few other ideas, but I’m going to keep those under my hat.
