20Mar Tascam DR-60d neck strap option
A couple of you were asking about the strap I use with the Tascam DR-60d. There isn’t anything very fancy about it, it’s simply a camera strap quick release buckle and an old camera strap. I’ve been using it for almost year with good results but i’m always open to other ideas if you guys have any recommendations.
To keep the stress off the XLR inputs I loop the XLR cable through the strap before feeding it into the recorder. This method also saves the DR-60d from damage if cables get yanked, though it can give you a nasty rug burn on your neck if you’re not careful. I usually attach wireless units to the 1/4 20 stud on the top of the DR-60d and occasionally I’ll mount an XLR adapter box to the bottom and feed a few extra channels in via the DR-60d’s 3.5mm input.
I’ve seen a few audio bags for the DR-60d, but most of them are in the $100 price range. It seems a little unreasonable to spend that much on a bag for a field recorder that only costs $199.

On another subject, have you noticed any issues with cables for your TP Link?
I bought a flex/coil USB to USB mini cable and it does not work on the TP Link connected to my MK III, but it does work fine when I test it on other USB devices.
As u have said in the past, these flex cables are nice — and this would be perfect getting to/from the TP link and the camera … but the DSLR controller AP on my Samsung tab stops working almost immediately when using this cable….

Some of the cheaper cables only use the data pins or don’t have thick enough wire which can cause high resistance connections. Some devices with stronger outputs don’t mind, but battery powered devices are sometimes set to output at the lower end of the usb transmission spec and can be effected by that sort of thing.

I had a few cables that i’d rather use with the tp-link, but they will not work for anything data intensive,so the shortest cable is a monstrously think 6″ cable.i’d love an angled cable that doesn’t stick out as much.

If anyone ever runs into a coil USB to mini that would work with the TP Link, I would sure love to hear about it.
Kaiju, can u provide a link to the 6″?

I have a final question regarding using my android device as a monitor: Is there a sunshade anywhere that fits a 10″ tablet?
I have searched high and low …. I need something like the one in the link below, but it is only for a 7″ monitor:

Deejay I don’t think I have seen anything on your site for a sunhood for a 10″ android table … but I sure could use one.

i never seen a sunshade, but on an older tablet i had (archos a101) i has a matte screen protector which helped with glare without impacting quality much.

The Lowepro Edit 110 is a perfect sized bag for the DR-60D. I use it for mine with no issues at all.
