26Mar DIY CNC Camera Slider project
If you own a CNC router, this DIY slider designed by edwinmakesstuff is a pretty cool little project. Four peaces of cut plastic, 15 606 roller bearings, a peace of aluminum extrusion, and some random hardware is all it takes. Total price about $35.
There isn’t any way to provide extra friction, but it’s still an interesting little project. When you consider that most of the linear bearing sliders on the market start at around $300, $35 doesn’t sound to bad. I might have to download the files and give it a try.

Hey Deejay and Dave,
Love your respectable websites and reviews! But I felt compelled to comment about the above.
You might want to take a look at makerslide, It’s basically the same idea as above for those who don’t have access to CNC equipment or Makerbot (ahem)

The main problem with makerslide is its availability, it so popular that it frequently goes out of stock, looks like the creator started a inventables
https://www.inventables.com/technologies/makerslide
He sells the carriage, wheels and if needed the belt and motor for motorized applications
I’ve been wanting to combine my makerslide with this

ardunio powered timelaspe/controller, but haven’t had the brains or funds to fully try it out

Alex, I have seen the Makerslide. Every time I’ve tried to order parts they’ve been sold out. I was interested in using it for something like the The Quantum ORD Bot as well as a camera slider but no luck so far.

Ah I see, well the inventables link seems like it would guarantee Makerslide if there are 500 orders, I plan to get another length 2000mm for friends or to make a longer slider. I guess I had lucked out for makerside, but you keep on trying!
