29Aug Possible wireless version of DSLR controller via WiFi?
I’ve already pledged to the CameraMator with the hope that Live view will be enabled by the time the adapter ships. At $185, it’s a lot more expensive then a simple usb cable connection but wireless usually means a higher price in general. There is 7 days left to pledge on the CameraMator project so if you’re interested you can find out more here. Even with the current list of features this still looks like a great idea.

Hi,
ever heard of “Wireless USB”? It’s basically a standard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_USB) that allows wireless USB-connections. In Germany, Hama offers a kit (two transceivers) for about 70€ and appearantly it works quite well. I’m not quite sure it can provide the data rates needed for live-video, and it doesn’t seem to be available in the U.S., but 70€ (inc. taxes) is still a lot less then $185, so I’d give that a try first if I needed it..

They do sell a few versions of that in the united states. All of them I’ve seen have horrible reviews about distance, size, and data rate. Also not sure how well it would work with a tablet, you’d still need to have several adapter cables on both the camera and the tablet.

Finally! I think I may be asking for this for Christmas! I tried the mini monitor project twice, but both times they brok (not your fault). And since I can use my phone for this, I’m even more compelled to get!

I talked to the guys working on the kickstarter project. They said that Live view and video mode would be added for camera’s that support it which is good news for Canon users. Hopefully they’ll have it working by the time they start shipping.

I’m a backer of this product also! (EARLY BIRD). I’m very excited about it and looking forward to trying it out. LOVE that it can create its own WiFi network if one isn’t available so it can transmit to iPad or laptop.

So glad I found this post! I have been desperate to find an affordable wifi transmitter and nearly bought a WFT-E4 IIA recently as I would be mainly using it as a live monitor for filmmaking. I hope the update comes soon, would you post something when the update arrives? Would love to see it in action in comparison to WFT’s.
