26Feb Pinch in the middle lens caps
In the past if you wanted a pinch in the middle lens cap for your Canon lens you would have to resort to a counterfeit copy on ebay. Thankfully after all of these years, Canon has finally decided to release their own official pinch in the middle lens cap. Priced between $7 and $15 you can now get pinch in the middle (center squeeze) lens caps at 52mm, 58mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm and 82mm sizes for your Canon glass. Not sure if or when we’ll start to see this ship with new lenses, but it’s a step in the right direction.
Good job Canon, fixing something that’s been a problem for more then 20 years. Glad to see you can keep up with modern times.

It’s funny. I’ve just been buying Nikon caps for years which are not that pricey. They’re good quality and confuse people who must think I have a lens adapter or something.

My Pinch Tokina lens cap collects a lot of dust in the mechanism. I always wondered if that was why Canon held back. They apparently use the white of the L Zooms to reflect heat off the lens – but Nikon never bothered with that. Making me wonder if it was really effective.

I haven’t had much trouble with dust, but I usually keep my lenses in the bag when not in use.

as usual, great articles and updates!!
…after seeing one of your earlier reviews on pinch caps, i found some (non oem) canon labeled caps from our good friends over yonder and bought them for all my glass…and they were nowhere NEAR those prices…but hey…it is Canon…so it HAS to cost high!
