16Mar DFN Mail bag Episode 1 – DSLR FILM NOOB
Question:
I saw your video using the nexus 7 as a monitor while filming. Canon you do the same thing with the ipad?
I get this question on a daily bases so I thought i’d start the new show out with it. Let me know what you guys think of the new show format, I know it’s a bit wackier and cut like a Vlog but I had a good time filming it and it’s a little different than the normal stuff I post. Be sure to leave questions in the comment section or hit me up on twitter and i’ll add those to the list for future instalments.

Have you looked into camera gimbles and if so could you recommend an affordable solution to one?

I love this manic version of podcasts! feel like it needs sound fx! and more jump cuts!

I love this new version. Very funny. Lol @Gianfranco I have played with two low budget gimbals and learned that make sure to know your camera total weights first before looking at the gimbal. The cheapest yet string gimbal available is the Came that Tom Antos did a great review of. It’s under $1k right now

I bought the nexus 7 specifically as a field monitor. I find that it’s too awkward and clumsy. A real field monitor served me a lot better. The nexus 7 did save me a lot of money however because it convinced me that spending $300 on a camranger or iusbport wasn’t going to be a great solution either. And at the end of the day, I still have a working tablet that can be used for other things, unlike the camranger or iusbport. (Although my iPad gets way more use than the Nexus 7)
