03Aug Lilliput 569GL 5 inch monitor in the wild.
LJ posted this unboxing video of the new Lilliput 569GL monitor. I’ve been interested to see how Lilliput’s 5 inch monitor stacks up. Coming in at $200, it’s well under any of the other 5 inch hdmi monitors in this category. It’s also one of the few monitors in this price range sporting proper BNC connectors. Lilliput’s larger monitors don’t have the blinking problem that many other field monitors have. I wonder if the DVI trick works on the 5 inch version as well as it works on the their 7 and 8 inch models.
Lilliput’s monitor selection keeps getting more and more advanced. If you’re interested in the 569GL monitor you can pick it up on ebay for $200, as long as you don’t mind waiting for Hong Kong shipping. If you need it here faster you can pay an extra $30 and pick it up on amazon. Either way it seems like a pretty good deal.

What blinking problem. Is this when you start to record and the screen goes blank for a moment?
Does this also affect the 7D on HDMI? I would prefer to use an HDMI cable over the RCA unless it causes an issue.

The 7d is one of the few cameras that doesn’t down scale in record mode. The only problem you’ll have is some small black bars on the sides. Much better then the 5d and 60d output.

I’m using the Haier (Hayer? Hyere?)that I learned of on your site. I don’t stretch the screen because I don’t like the distortion. That leaves large black bars on the sides. Would this one be better? It seems to be closer to the screen ratio on DSLR cameras.
Haier was only $38 so its certainly cheap and useful for framing but its fairly large considering I’m not using the whole screen. I’m just wondering if this is worth the extra $$$.

Am i right in assuming that because both the 5 and 7 inch monitors have the same pixel resolution…that the 5 inch would be sharper?

Hello! I have this monitor and I was wondering if there is any way to enable the DVI mode? Secret menu? Software mode? Anything?
Thank you very much!

There is, I believe you have to hold down a button combo for a few seconds to get to the service menu. I don’t remember what the combo is, but if you look around in forums you should find it.

Thank you for your answer! I am looking everywhere like crazy and cannot find the key combination. I sent an email to Lilliput UK, I hope they answer!
I own a 7D and don’t have any problems while hitting record. BUT I get a blink when switching to playback mode. This is the reason why I wanna try DVI mode. Do you think it could work or am I just losing my time?
Thanks again!!

DVI mode wont fix that problem. Switching to playback mode is all in camera.
